Student Chapters

Student chapters exist to provide support, leadership and growth for students interested in pursuing a career in  Human Resources or management.  SHRM student chapters hold regularly scheduled meetings to help students learn more about business and the HR field. They are run by elected student officers with the assistance of a chapter advisor and SHRM professional. Network with the business leaders of today and make the contacts that will help you find a job tomorrow.

  • Student Chapter affiliation taps you into a network of more than 250 student chapters, which can be excellent sources of information and support.

  • Affiliation with SHRM is among the most recognizable symbols of your commitment to the HR profession.

  • Receive supplies and resources free of charge that will guide you in managing your chapter and in organizing exciting programs for your student members.

  • Local meetings provide a supportive environment for students to meet with other students, HR practitioners and business professionals to discuss and supplement academic education with real life examples.

  • Active chapters are recognized annually for outstanding activities and programming.

  • Develop your leadership skills through the experience of taking on a leadership role on your campus.

  • Networking and connections to HR professionals and business leaders often lead to practical work experience, as well as help and support with required research, knowledge and survey data

Learning Activities

Through regular meetings, either self-directed or utilizing guest speakers, the chapters help members learn more about HR and the real world of business. Elected student officers run the chapters with the assistance of a chapter advisor and the HRMA Student Chapter Chair. Beyond the regular meetings, chapters organize a variety of activities including student conferences, resume-writing and interviewing workshops, fundraisers, internship programs, and social events.
